Eli "Paperboy" Reed

Eli 'Paperboy' ReedAfter twenty editions of the Western Classic and Barbecue featuring the all time best in Texas based country music, the Lea Brothers Band is going in a different direction...breaking the mold...looking east, yes, but more important digging deep into our musical soul. Why? Because we have discovered the music of Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves! Paperboy is not the rebirth of soul music; he is the regeneration of soul music. Raised on Ray Charles, apprenticed with the blues masters in Clarksdale, Mississippi, with graduate training in one of Chicago's great gospel citadels, this young man from Boston channels Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Mel and Tim, Tyrone Davis and more. When we say he channels these greats, we don't mean that he's some kind of cover band replaying their hits. Paperboy writes all of his own material, but he has such command of the R 'n B/Soul vernacular, when the horn section builds to the first chorus of "Come and Get It," his new release on Capitol Records, you'll nudge your sweetie and coo, "remember this one." Of course you can't remember it because you're just now hearing it for the first time. But swear on our collection of James Brown and Sam and Dave vinyl, you're sure gonna dig it.

Paperboy has earned rave reviews from the Boston Herald and the New York press, where he's now based. We're thrilled to be bringing him to the Western (well west of Brooklyn anyway) Classic and Barbecue. You got to get up to get the get down feeling, so get on up to Linville, bring your dancing shoes instead of cowboy boots, and get ready to set your soul on fire!
